HYPOTHETICAL NONPROFIT BRANDING
The NephroHope Foundation is a project I created in a senior-level course at Clemson University. Throughout the course, each student created their own nonprofit. Like many others, I chose a cause that was personal to me. The NephroHope Foundation's mission is to help those with kidney disease in rural areas receive proper care and treatment by offering financial aid, transportation, and coaching.
The final assignment was a proposal for our hypothetical nonprofit. Below, I go into more detail regarding the story, branding, and some of the ideas I created to support my nonprofit.
THE LOGO

For my nonprofit, I wanted the logo to resemble hope for kidney disease. Being diagnosed with kidney disease is life-changing and inevitably leaves people feeling hopeless about the rest of their lives. I chose a dove as a symbol of hope, as that is in the name of the organization. Additionally, I made the body of the dove in the shape of a kidney. Since kidneys are red, I decided that to be the additional color and implemented it into the title of the logo to highlight what the foundation does and make it more attractive.
MISSION STATEMENT
VISION STATEMENT
VALUES STATEMENT
The NephroHope Foundation’s mission is to help those with kidney disease in rural Anderson, SC receive proper care and treatment by offering financial aid, transportation and coaching.
A world where no one with kidney disease gets left behind.
Accountability: Reaching goals isn’t always easy, especially without someone there to help. We want to make sure that all our patients are holding to their responsibilities by creating and establishing a routine tailored just for them.

Support: Sometimes all anyone needs is a little assistance. We want to make sure that our patients are making it to their appointments, eating properly, and so on, so that they can live the best life they can.

Hope: Kidney disease should not define anyone, and we want to make sure that no one ever feels left behind. We remind our patients every day that the future is better with you in it, and you will get there.

Fundraising Event
THE NEPHCHEF SHOWOFF

We needed to create a fundraising event for our nonprofit. As I was coming up with ideas I knew that I wanted the event to be social, to gather as many people as possible, and since many people aren't aware that kidney disease impacts so many, I wanted it to raise awareness. That is where The NephChef Showoff came to life.

Not only does it cover the goals mentioned earlier, but offers the potential to address a struggle of those with kidney disease: dietary restrictions. Following a diet can be difficult for anyone, and the restrictions for patients are not any different. Those participating in the NephChef Showoff must enter with a recipe that abides by a kidney disease diet. Upon entry, the recipes are to be included in a cookbook that can be sold to the public and given to patients.
The NephChef Showoff is my favorite idea that I created for The NephroHope Foundation. There is so much potential with this event from the scale at which it can grow to the other opportunities it can unlock. The name for the event is catchy and would be easily recognized as something that The NephroHope Foundation hosts. I really enjoyed figuring out the implications and logistics behind it.
With every fundraising event, crunching some numbers is a given. Corporate sponsorships are a must for large fundraisers like this and it manages to get the community involved on a different level. Displayed on the right, I have created a sponsorship proposal package that details more on the event as well as the sponsorship opportunities I built.
